Curriculum Overview
Our Curriculum: Inspiring Learning, Unlocking the Future
At Leatherhead Trinity School we offer a broad and balanced curriculum, which we believe promotes the spiritual, moral, cultural, emotional and physical development of our pupils. Our curriculum prepares the children that attend our school for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences they may experience in later life. In addition to the New National Curriculum we offer a broad range of learning experiences, both physical and creative, which we believe are invaluable in enriching our pupil’s learning. You can read about these on the following curriculum website pages.
The curriculum at Leatherhead Trinity is divided into three stages:
- Early Years Foundation Stage from ages 0-5
- Key Stage 1 (New National Curriculum Year 1-2) from ages 5-7
- Key Stage 2 (New National Curriculum Year 3-6) from ages 7-11
We teach and learn at our school using a topic based approach whilst following the statutory elements of the New National Curriculum set out by key stage for each subject. More information about topics can be found on the class pages.
Our lessons are planned to ensure that there are no barriers to every child achieving and our teachers take into account the needs of every child in their planning.
Our curriculum in partnership with the whole school community
We work in partnership with you as parents and carers, your children and our staff to ensure that our pupils achieve to their full potential, and we ask all families who attend our school to embrace our Home School Agreement (see below). We do expect our pupils to do regular learning at home with your support as appropriate. Parents are sent a termly newsletter from their child’s class teacher which explains all the areas that the children will be learning about during each term (see class pages).
We hope that you will be as excited by our curriculum as we are about teaching it and would invite you to read in more detail about the learning journeys that children who attend Leatherhead Trinity School follow.
